The Business Development Manager/Senior Manager is a senior level sales professional who will take responsibility for selling Wiley’s institutional solutions to Strategic Higher Education accounts in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be tasked to identify, nurture and close complex, high level deals which will drive our business transformation strategy and achieve significant revenue growth.


Sales expert.  Is recognized both internally and externally as a leading sales strategist and business expert, with highly sophisticated understanding of customer needs and competitors' offerings.  Develops and implements new approaches to the sales process.  Plans and executes sales strategies for the company’s largest and most complex accounts, clients or markets.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a Reputable University

New Business Acquisition

  • Develop and implement the sales strategy for institutional clients in Malaysia
  • Own the selling process for institutional clients from opportunity identification to closing
  • Craft proposals that meet client needs and lead presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a territory plan that lists prospective clients and tracks visits and progress on selling opportunities.
  • Create working relationships and establish rapport with executives/senior decision makers within educational institutions.


  • Work with clients post-sale to ensure our educational services are delivered and deployed to specification/customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve any issues that arise with clients post-sales in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keep updated on clients’ organisational changes in strategy, plans and key personnel.

Leverage Business Intelligence

  • Actively monitor competitor activities and update our CRM database (Salesforce) with customer/prospect information and market data.
  • Research, recommend and attend conferences to ensure we are at the forefront of industry and abreast of traditional and non-traditional competitors.
  • Prepare material for senior management that identifies any market barriers to sales opportunities and propose potential solutions to improve the marketability of our service offerings.

  • Comply with, and make positive contribution to, all company policy, rules and procedures for Health & Safety and current H&S legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure that all colleagues within own area of responsibility know, understand and comply with all company policy, rules and procedures forHealth & Safety and current H&S legislation and best practice.


  • Know and understand the controls and processes in own area.
  • Identify any changes during the year, which might affect existing controls or require new controls. Ensure that documentation is updated accordingly.
  • Ensure that any control owners who report to you are aware of their responsibility as control owners to carry out controls and retain documented evidence.
  • Notify senior management as soon as possible if controls are not being performed timely.
  • As requested by the Company, perform an annual assessment (test) of controls based upon management's guidance and retain all supporting documents evidencing it.
  • Ensure that own team are aware of all the processes and controls in my area and their relevance both to them and to the business.
  • Assist as required in the annual audit process with KPMG.
  • Notify senior management if any misconduct is noted
