Requirements
Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, preferably in Business or Production related
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in feed mill company
  3. Minimum 5 years of experience in managerial role.
 
Languages and Communication Skills
  1. Fluent in English both Oral and Written 
  2. Good in communications and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  3. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  4. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, management, employees and vendors.
 
Computer literate.
  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific related software applications 
  2. Having worked in ERP environment is an added advantage

Responsibilities

This position is responsible to plan, lead and manage the Medan feed mill with the view of achieving continuous growth, maintaining sound liquidity and achieving a healthy return on investment to shareholders, in accordance with expectations and targets set by GCI Management.  The General Manager is expected to develop and implement strategies which are congruent to GCI’s long-term goal of being a key market player in the feed milling industry.

 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Take full responsibility of the mill’s bottom line and for the daily operations in the functions of purchasing, production, quality control, marketing, sales, customer technical support, finance and administration.
  2. Motivate, direct and co-ordinate the activities of the mill and its affiliates/associates so as to achieve the optimum level of efficiency and productivity at all times.  By working with the Factory Manager and QA/QC teams, the GM is expected to adhere to quality standards and provide adequate and timely feed supply to the market.
  3. Ensure compliance to all local laws and regulations in so far as they relate to the operations of the mill. 
  4. Lead the sales team to achieve sound market share and a solid customer base, while ensuring healthy margins and timely collections.  Regular visits to the market are necessary to build customer relationships and to keep abreast of market developments and sales team coverage.
  5. Work with Country Finance Controller and with the assistance of Mill Controller, initiate the planning, controlling and budgeting processes.  The GM is expected to work with the Finance team to exercise control and supervise all financial matters, including control over inventories and debtors (collections and credit). 
  6. Work with Country and Group Purchasing Department to exercise control on raw material and other purchases, including quality adherence, pricing and terms.
  7. Ensure compliance with the Group and Company policies on all matters at all times. Ensure appropriate approvals are sought prior to execution of policy matters such as, but not limited to, legal agreements, discount policies, bad debts write-offs and new accounts, bank lines, staff recruitment, capital expenditure and salary increments/bonus payments.
  8. Institute manpower development and succession plans for key managers.
